Photo 101: Solitude

“A man can be himself only so long as he is alone; and if he does not love solitude, he will not love freedom; for it is only when he is alone that he is really free.” -Arthur Schopenhauer

Photo 101: Bliss and Captions

This is bliss for me. Seeing my love ones get along with each other. 🙂 This is my take on day four’s Photo 101 assignment.

Nordstøldalen, Sauda Norway

Nordstøldalen sommer 2014
A great place for nature lovers and hikers. This place is located in Sauda kommune, north for Stavanger. You can travel to Sauda by the boat or by car and from Sauda center you can walk/hike to Nordstøldalen. The hike takes about an hour. Photo taken this June 2014.

My Holy Week Vacation (overdue post)

If for some people, attending the mass and visiting churches are their way of observing the Holy Week. As for me I prefer to do it out of religion contexts. It would be going out in the nature and disconnecting from the world. What I mean by the latter is no communication devices nor stuff that  would keep me distracted from self reflection. It is also a way to do things that you do not do on a daily basis. Like for example mountain climbing, fishing, painting the nature, hiking and etc.

I spent the Holy Week with my family. It has always been a tradition for me to go home whenever there is a holiday unless I have to go to work. This year has been good to me, so I am lucky that my employer grant my 6 day vacation leave request.

So I was in Sauda for almost a week. Spent the first two days, well, reading for my exams, working out and being spoiled by mom. The third day was the birthday celebration of my sibling and the day after that, we went outdoor rock climbing at Marvik. Then the remaining days were spent in a cabin without electricity, a toilet without flush, no faucet and internet at Nordstøldalen.

My creativity skills are better outside the civilization. 😛 lol
No, it’s not the sun. It’s the moon. Took this around past midnight I think.
Since I didn’t have ski with me. I used a pair of snowshoes instead. 🙂
I found an old newspaper in the cabin. It says Good Old Snow Winter on the headline.
I’ll definitely go back here again, when time permits.
Anyway,  hope everyone had a great Holy Week! 🙂
