Bright and Cold

The snow is back after two weeks of storm and mild weather. I am also grateful that it is getting brighter again. My mood is starting to get better and I am motivated to try something new when it comes to jobs. The economic crisis is not yet over. Yesterday, one of the biggest banks here in Norway laid off 600 employees. So yes it means an increase in unemployment rate in the country. It is depressing for those who have lost their jobs and it is also frustrating for job seekers like me to find jobs within our field.

Yesterday I had a meeting with the local social services office. They have given me tips on how to find jobs. I listened attentively even though I already know it. Then in the end of the meeting they asked me if I have a business or establishment. In my mind I was thinking, it is a good idea. I actually have business ideas already. All I need is to make a plan, budget and just execute the plan. I have faith in this because I have the knowledge in economics and accounting.

Anyway, since the weather is nice today (and so as my mood), Zorro and I went for a longer walk this morning.

Cannot be unseen

Bookshops are one of the shops that I always check whenever I am in a mall or out in the city center. It is also my second favorite place next to the library.

I was in the city center two weeks ago. It was very cold but sunny so I did not mind walking for a couple of hours just for window shopping. I went inside a bookshop which also sells video games and checked some games and books on sale, hence I found the books about the human body parts. I simply could not unsee the books because they are colorful and the titles are quite catchy, they are also located in the middle shelf so it is easy to see. I checked one of the books and most of them are just naked pictures of the human body.

So the saying is true, nudity sells (cannot be unseen). 😛

This post is my take on The Daily Post photo challenge of the week, vibrant.

Focused

This is Jesse my friend’s 4 month old kitten. I took this shot while I was waiting for my friend to finish her makeup. I think the cat finds her owner fascinating with the makeup on. Or maybe not? What do you think?

A Sunny Autumn Day

Autumn is the perfect time of the year for me when it comes to shooting outdoors, going for random hikes (short walks) and sightseeing. The weather is just right (Not too hot and not too cold.) and autumn colors are just magnificent.

Today was rather a tiring day for me despite the day off from work because of the fact that I’m getting the flu and was moving/lifting and cleaning my stuff. I also cancelled my gym today and that made me feel guilty so I went outside to get some fresh air and unwind. Guess what? It worked! I got better! Win win! 😀

Anyway, here are the shots that I took today. I used my Samsung S5 camera and adjusted the exposure using Lightroom. Enjoy! 🙂

Into the Woods

pü vei til Høgstefjellet

I find forests interesting because whenever I’m in one I can’t help but wonder if there are mystical creatures that could suddenly appear. Like for example a unicorn, a troll or a werewolf. Who knows what the woods are hiding from the mortals.

Anyway, this shot was taken on the way to Høgstefjellet, a mountain in Åsane. This is just one of the beautiful forests in the area. One rainy day, I’ve decided to go out and hike. My plan was to reach any mountain tops in Bergen area that I’ve never been to. I read about Høgstefjellet in the internet and I got excited about hiking it because it’s not that far from where I was staying. I went hiking with Zorro the dachshund even though it’s raining and my shoes is not good enough for the muddy trails.

Disappointed at Humanity

We humans are blessed because we’ve been given the ability to think and thus making us superior to other species. We also have the best tools in the world which are our hands. Without them we won’t be able to work for food and shelter.

Last Monday, my friend and I went for a walk at Møllebukta, one of favorite places in Stavanger. It’s a nice sunny day, the sea’s calm and the temperature was great, around 16 degrees Celsius.

The view never fails to amaze us even though we’ve been here a couple of times before. So we stopped and took some pictures from our phones. Then we moved on and found one of our favorite spots which is the cottage with table and benches. Usually, people from the nearby places come there to meet friends and grill there. It’s open for everybody. But when we got there we were surprised to see trash.

It turns out that a/some group of people used the cottage and when they’re done they just left without cleaning up after themselves. Their trash told us that they had grilled sausages, corn in a can, cigarettes and soda.

I can’t understand these people. Is it hard to clean up? There are lots of trash cans in the area and if they can buy groceries and take it with them at the cottage, then I’m sure that they can also carry the trash into the trash cans nearby.

It’s funny. When we were alive we spent much of our time staring up at the cosmos and wondering what was out there. We were obsessed with the moon and whether we could one day visit it. The day we finally walked on it was celebrated worldwide as perhaps man’s greatest achievement. But it was while we were there, gathering rocks from the moon’s desolate landscape, that we looked up and caught a glimpse of just how incredible our own planet was. Its singular astonishing beauty. We called her Mother Earth. Because she gave birth to us, and then we sucked her dry. -Jon Stewart

We only have one planet. So we better take care of it before it’s too late.

One of the Best it is!

For those who want more than just coffee and tea, this cafe is for you. Rostrup Cafe is a local cafe and is located in Sandnes at Langgata. Just a few steps away from the train station. I discovered Rostrup last year when I was shopping for Christmas presents. The ambiance inside is just fantastic. It’s really cosy and the employees there are nice.
