A Necessary Life Skill

A week ago, my daughter bought her Christmas Eve dress at the flea market. She fell in love with the dress so why not allow her to buy it. From the outer side of the dress, it looked almost perfect despite some of minor issues. We didn’t mind because the dress is really beautiful. I thought that it’s just an easy fix.

When we came home, I inspected the dress very carefully and found out that the waistline part needed a fix from the inside. For me, it could go since we got the dress for a very cheap price. However, I felt guilty so I’ve decided that I’d fix it despite the fact that I’m a very bad seamstress! I can sew because I’ve learned it when I was small, but I forgot the stitches type and how since I don’t normally sew and I had very little to almost no practice in sewing because my mom sewed all my sewing projects at school because she felt sorry for my sewing projects. I also find sewing a bit boring for me but hey! Sewing is a good skill to have and is a good life skill to learn because sometimes we have to deal with our own clothes too if there are no seamstress around.

Anyway, I’ve decided to just give it a go and just trust myself. I didn’t care anymore how it will look like and besides no one (I hope) would see the stitches from the outer side.

This part needed a fixing!

Then when I started stitching, I found out that the fabric itself is not that good. The cloth fibers are a bit loose, so I had to be careful on not ripping it off by my thread.

Voila! Stitched up but something’s not right. ๐Ÿ˜›

I can’t see the stitches! yay!!!

In the end, I made it! I’m happy with my fix job despite of the minor errors. Well, I could have also fixed it again, but we’ll see. For now, I’m glad that I repaired something and made my daughter happy ๐Ÿ™‚
