If there is one thing that every car owner should know aside from changing tires, it is changing the brakes. In my opinion, it is a very useful skill in life and it is also cheaper than sending the car to the workshop.
For two weeks ago, I had to change the break pads and the brake discs on the front of my car. The screeching noise from braking was making me crazy and I was tired of people looking at me whenever the car started “screaming” for its life. At the same time, I cannot compromise the safetyย of my child. So, despite my poor form that day, we changed the brake pads and brake discs. To be honest, I ended up in just assisting because both of the calliper bolts were stuck. The plan was to observe first when the first side was being changed then change the other side myself. Since I’m not strong enough, he had to do almost everything.
After 40 minutes (or more) of working on to just loosen the bolt, the first caliper was finally unstuck and we could finally take out the calliper, brake pads and the brake disc.

My task was to clean the calliper. Used a steel brush and a file to remove the rust.

To make the story short, it took us 4 hours to change the front brakes. It’s because it’s been a while since the last change. It’s exhausting but at least me and my passenger(s] are safe again. ๐ No more braking bad on the road!
