You Don’t Need to Fly

Sometimes you don’t need to fly just to get closer to the sky. 😉

No Shortcuts. Just Fun.

Zorro and I hiked Fløyen yesterday. This was not our first time together at Fløyen. We were there around 2 years ago. This time we did not take the funicular to the top. We hiked. The path is not hard to find, it is just on the left side of the entrance.

We left the flat at 12 noon, then took the bus to the city center. I felt pity for Zorro because he does not like taking the bus. He was nervous and shaking and just wanted to go off the bus every time it stopped. I am sure that he had a long day in the bus rides.

We went off at “Torget”. I walked Zorro along the pier to relax his nerves after the horrifying bus ride. He seemed very excited and happy to once again explore Bergen center! Then after 10 minutes of walking we started going up to the path to Fløyen.

The path is very easy to hike. It is baby and toddler friendly. Anyone can go up there with trolleys. Even old people can go up too. All you only need is the will to reach the top.

Unlike the funicular, hiking to Fløyen takes around 35-40 minutes. But in my case, it took me an hour to get there because of Zorro. You see he has tiny legs and he is kind a heavy for his size, so we just walked nice and slow. On the brighter side, we met some awesome dogs too on the way and we got to enjoy the view as we get higher and higher.

The hike was a bit exhausting. But I prefer hiking to taking the funicular because there are more to see and the feeling of reaching the top after the struggle is just superb.

New Home

It is official. I have finally moved to Bergen!

New home. New city. New opportunities. However it does not mean that I am saying goodbye to Stavanger for good. My family and friends live there and there are some places that I have never been to but would love to see/visit.

The place that I am living now is not far from Bergen sentrum. It is just 15 minutes drive and 20-30 minutes by bus. Then, there are two grocery stores just across the flat building. Not bad, right? The flat is also close to the mountains, hills, farms and fjords. So, the views are really good and the place is good for short/long walks/hikes.

Anyway, let my pictures take you for a walk. These were all taken today.

A Short Trip to Fløyen

This weekend, my friends visited me in Bergen. It was their first time to be here so I was really happy to show them what Bergen has to offer. When they arrived here it was already getting dark and it was also raining a lot. So we showed them some of the malls in the city center and after that we went to TGIF for dinner. Then we went to their hotel room to have a couple of drinks before going to the night club.

The following day, the weather improved. Less rain and the sun was out. So we head to Fløyen (We took the Fløibanen), one of the seven mountains in Bergen.

A Sunny Autumn Day

Autumn is the perfect time of the year for me when it comes to shooting outdoors, going for random hikes (short walks) and sightseeing. The weather is just right (Not too hot and not too cold.) and autumn colors are just magnificent.

Today was rather a tiring day for me despite the day off from work because of the fact that I’m getting the flu and was moving/lifting and cleaning my stuff. I also cancelled my gym today and that made me feel guilty so I went outside to get some fresh air and unwind. Guess what? It worked! I got better! Win win! 😀

Anyway, here are the shots that I took today. I used my Samsung S5 camera and adjusted the exposure using Lightroom. Enjoy! 🙂

My Happy Place

In response to The Daily Post’s weekly photo challenge: “Happy Place.”

Whenever I need to unwind or take a break from work, I always go out in nature. It’s not only good for the mind and body but it’s also free.

Into the Woods

pü vei til Høgstefjellet

I find forests interesting because whenever I’m in one I can’t help but wonder if there are mystical creatures that could suddenly appear. Like for example a unicorn, a troll or a werewolf. Who knows what the woods are hiding from the mortals.

Anyway, this shot was taken on the way to Høgstefjellet, a mountain in Åsane. This is just one of the beautiful forests in the area. One rainy day, I’ve decided to go out and hike. My plan was to reach any mountain tops in Bergen area that I’ve never been to. I read about Høgstefjellet in the internet and I got excited about hiking it because it’s not that far from where I was staying. I went hiking with Zorro the dachshund even though it’s raining and my shoes is not good enough for the muddy trails.
