A month ago, I mentioned that I signed up for the relay run. Well, I ran and I finished the race! It’s a 5.5 km run and I’ve never thought that I was going to make it to the finish line. It was a really tough run for me because my plan of training failed due to the flu. When the race day came, I was unsure if I was going to run because first I was unprepared and second I didn’t feel well. However, since the weather was good, I just gave it a try.

Before the race (30 mins before), I ate a sausage which I later on regret and hated myself for not having self controll that day. ๐ That sausage took a toll on my running ability! So just a couple of kilometers, I felt exhausted already and my tummy was aching. I slowed down and jogged and walked and ran again. I was frustrated as my opponents were running from me. I almost gave up and almost turned around because I felt that I’m just a loser. I’ve also started questioning my decision to join the race as I was never an avid fan of running. But then, as I continued to run, people were cheering me up and suddenly it came to me that no matter what the outcome is the most important thing is to finish the race. So, that’s what I did. I ran, jogged walked and ran again. Then as I approach the finish line, hearing more people cheer and hearing my name on the speaker, I felt like a winner already.
I was emotional and grateful because I never thought that I was going to make it. Some months ago, I fell on the ice and bruised my lower back and tailbone. Thus, making sitting and walking a challenge. And then, after that I got sick of flu for weeks so I just stayed at home and had to postpone my workout sessions. To have just finished the race is such a huge achievement for me. Now I know why some people love to run.
Oh, by the way. I finished 3rd!!! ๐
