Recuperating

I’ve been sick for a month now because of rhinovirus and strep infection. I never thought that a common cold could be so cruel to me this season. I used to be better after a week but this time is different. The bug forced me to stay home for a month and also caused a couple of trips to the doctor. The first week of colds was not that bad because the symptoms were not bothering me yet. However, my muscles started to get sore and my body heavy without a reason and when the second week came that’s when I really felt that I was sick. I went to the doctor for a consultation and series of blood tests. The result? No bacterial infection. So the doctor took a Covid-19 swab test and it was negative. I was also tested for the throat infection and the result was positive. I was also positive for rhinovirus, better known as the common cold virus. He sent me home and said that I should get plenty of rest and drink lots of water. For the fever he prescribed Paracetamol.

Then the third week came, I was still feeling s***. The high fever won’t go away and my sinuses were worse. Because of that, I thought that maybe I had sinusitis this time. I tried my best to treat it myself but after four days I’ve had enough and went to see the doctor again. So, they took another blood test again and this time my CRP (C-reactive protein) level was over 100 which indicates that I have an infection. Then my doctor prescribed penicillin for 7 days.

Today is my fourth week of being sick. I can say I’m better because the high fever is gone and the cough is not that bad anymore, but I still need more time to fully recover.
