That Kind of Day

Some days really test you—today was one of them. It was a full, demanding day at the hospital. I spent a couple of hours working with clinical patients, assisting the radiologist during biopsies and ultrasound-guided procedures. I usually handle it well, but today something felt off. As soon as I stepped into the procedure room, the sharp scent of formalin and the faint metallic trace of blood hit me harder than usual. My stomach turned, and I felt a wave of nausea and dizziness—I genuinely thought I might pass out.

But somehow, I kept going (and pushing).

While I was performing a cyst aspiration, my colleague glanced over and quietly asked, ‘Are you okay?’ That simple question held so much weight. It reminded me that even when we’re focused on taking care of others, it’s okay to pause and acknowledge what we feel too.

I’m grateful I pushed through, but even more grateful for the small moments of kindness and support that make these tough days a little lighter.

One of the views from work today. Grateful for the good weather!

This is the mammogram machine I worked on today. Old but still working!
