Over the past few weeks, I’ve been receiving compliments and positive feedback at work, and I just wanted to take a moment to acknowledge them. As I’ve mentioned before, working with people is never easy because we all have different personalities. There are times when certain individuals can get on your nerves, and at moments, it really tests our dedication to our dream job. But it’s during these challenging times that we grow stronger—and under pressure, we often discover who we truly are and what we’re capable of.
When I returned to work after being sick for a week, I still wasn’t feeling 100%. I showed up feeling like a zombie, with a runny nose and a persistent cough. Oh my—what a long week that was! However, to my surprise, everything went smoothly. I completed my tasks, and my patients were happy with the care I provided. One patient told me that I’m very good at my job and that she’s glad I’m working there. The next day, another patient said she wished everyone at the hospital was as good as me. Then, the day after that, someone else complimented my professionalism, saying I was as poised as a flight attendant. It didn’t stop there. An elderly woman shared that she used to feel anxious during her mammogram appointments, but for the first time, she felt calm. She said there was something about me—perhaps the way I work or how I communicate—that made a difference.
I feel humbled and truly touched by all the feedback. When I’m at work, I never ask for anything in return from my patients. I’m simply grateful to be of service, and I’m honored that I have the opportunity to help—and, in some cases, even save—lives.
